SPANISH HERD DOES
Spanish Goat Association Website
Information from The Spanish Goat Association

The Spanish goats in the United States are tried-and-true, which is why they're so popular in the south and southwest—this breed can handle almost
any hot climate and rugged terrain. Strong, fertile, and parasite-resistant, this is the kind of goat that big ranchers dream about.

Spanish goats are a pure breed, but are also known as "brush goats," "scrub goats," and "woods goats." Many have been crossbred, and the variety of
strains make identification a little tricky. But there are fullbloods/purebreds out there.

The Spanish Goat Association is still putting together a list of bloodlines. We have found most of the "old herds," but we are still finding (and seeking)
spanish goats, so the list is not yet complete.

These bloodline histories were told to us by the breeders themselves where possible and are as accurate as we can get. We have named the bloodlines
after the breeders, and are thankful to them for their many years of breed conservation.

Many longtime breeders have asked, "Fullblood Spanish? Is there really such a thing?" We think that if not, we can come as close as possible to finding
the oldest bloodlines available—bloodlines that seem to have no history of crossbreeding with imports as far as we know.

The terms "nannies" and "billies" are here mostly superseded by the terms "bucks" and "does" primarily due to the inexperience of the editor at time
written, and the gentle understanding of the breeders. Please read on, or select from the following list to page down to a bloodline of your choice.
The Kensing Bloodline
We have purchased some Spanish Goats from Post Oak Ranch in Bixby, OK.

The goats we bough come from the Kensing Bloodline.  We Plan on crossing these Does with our Kiko Bucks.
